New Delhi (India), Aug 16 : Additional National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in flood-hit Kerala for the rescue operation, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday. Singh also spoke to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding the flood situation. "Had a telephonic conversation with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding the prevailing flood situation in the state. The Centre is rushing additional NDRF teams to Kerala. We are providing all possible assistance.

New Delhi (India), Aug 14 : Taking cognizance of the appeal filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation and 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered day to day hearing in the acquittal case of Congress leader of Sajjan Kumar. The court also turned down the request of Sajjan Kumar's lawyer to hear the case only in afternoon sessions.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra while addressing the media here, said, "There is no mention of simultaneous polls in 11 states in BJP President Amit Shah's letter to the Law Commission but the Party does support the idea of one nation one election."

PATNA, Aug 14 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that 'one nation, one poll' was a good idea but not implementable in the forthcoming general elections. Kumar, who has been advocating simultaneous polls for state assemblies and Lok Sabha for quite some time, was responding to a query from journalists here on the letter written on the issue to the Law Commission by BJP national president Amit Shah. Holding simultaneous polls for all state assemblies and the Lok Sabha would not be possible in the next general elections.
RAIPUR, Aug 14 : Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Dass Tandon died at a hospital here today, an official said. He was 90. Tandon was rushed to the state-run Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital here this morning after he complained of uneasiness, the governor's secretary, Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, said. He later died at the hospital, he said. Tandon, one of the founder members of the Jansangh which later became the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), became the governor of Chhattisgarh in July 2014. During his long political career, he has served on various posts, including as deputy chief minister of Punjab. The six-time MLA was also jailed from 1975 to 1977 during Emergency.
